I believe he'll use the GET (from the Gila) to connect the 
CDT and AZT. Then the AZT to Grand Canyon, and from there 
somehow west to San Gorgonio Pass (PCT), per my suggestion. 
In any case, a border-hugging route between the CDT and PCT 
is probably not worth the hassle, just for the sake of 
hiking every mile of those trails.

Incidentally, Andy will probably be the first to explore - 
and no doubt improve upon - an AZT-PCT connecting route 
which I'm dubbing the Carizo Trail. The route would 
tentatively follow the Bill Williams River to Parker AZ at 
the CA border, then head west through wilderness areas in 
the Mojave, and through Joshua Tree NP, on its way to San 
Gorgonio Pass.
