Hi Bioguy,

I think most ultralight shelters will do alright for most three season use, including occasional moderate snows, if you set them up well and are willing to wake up and knock snow off of them from the inside from time to time. I used both my Silshelter and Six Moons Design Lunar Solo last summer and got snowed on a few times. Not as good as a four season tent in the snow but I got by fine. I am a firm believer in setting up in areas protected from the wind, and those two shelters stood up to everything I encountered except for a stake or two pulling out one night in screaming winds near East Glacier.

Have a good hike!
