The postholer is fun to look at, but not nearly as helpful for understanding what is happening on the ground as the NRCS snow data pages. ftp://ftp.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/data/snow/update/mt.txt ftp://ftp.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/data/snow/update/co.txt
http://www.mt.nrcs.usda.gov/snow/data/current.html etc. (There are several NOAA links are on our links page.) Postholer tells how the snow relates to an April 1 average ,while the NOAA sites tell how the current snow levels relate to normal current levels. Different issue until you get near April 1.

Cadence,
Ladyface and I are planning CDT thru hike this year, watching the CDT postholer data daily and for now are thinking southbound is going to be the way to go, subject to change with future snows. Looks like another buddy from back east that thru-hiked AT may join us, Packman, would love to have some company starting out and especially through grizz country...we're thinking appx June 15 start date from Glacier as of now.
You can reach me offline at dishjad at yahoo.com.
CDT08, woo hoo!!
