[Cdt-l] water situation south of Rawlins & rental car

Hello from france!

i'll start my hike early august from Rawlins, southbound, i'm wondering how dry is that section until Steamboat?

I will quit right on Chama NM, then i would need to rent a car to get back to Nevada.
What is the nearest town from Chama where i could get a rental car?
Santa Fe looks far away, Durango is better maybe?
