Negligible.  Assuming the hiker is not using their own vehicle, I imagine Greyhound and/or hitching will be how they mange most of the flipping.

Greyhound is already running the bus; people are already out on their cars.

Certainly less than I do running electricity, my truck, heat, etc. in my daily life.
