I believe your unit will allow 250 points per route and 50 routes. That's 
12,500 points or almost 5 points per mile for the CDT. Have you thought 
about loading your data as routes instead of tracks or waypoints?

Routes are also reversable, if you left your sun glasses at the last trail 
town. ;)

I don't know if that will work for you, but it sure beats 1,000 waypoints.
