I print maps double sided. I use slightly heavier weight, 32#, paper to limit bleed through. This leads to fewer pieces of paper to deal with and less weight. In the past I have done double sided in sequence. 2 is on the back of 1 and 4 is on the back of 3. This means neighboring maps can only be viewed side by side half of the time. I am thinking of skewing the flip side by maybe 3 or 4 this time but that may be too confusing to sort out. We'll see.
