BLM is proposing to reduce the wild horse population of Wyoming's Great Divide
Basin next summer. The Bureau estimates that the herd numbered about 1000 last
April. The plan is to remove some 600 excess horses, using helicopter roundups
to bring the population down to roughly 400 to 600 wild horses. (A similar
roundup was carried out in 2007.)

The Rock Springs Field Office is inviting comments (to
dividebasin_hma_wy at blm.gov) by January 21.

CDTS does not now expect to comment -- but would welcome the thoughts of the CDT
community.
