I did the CC to Lordsburg route last year, and also found it very well marked all the way to Silver City. Sam is your best bet for a ride out, and he will also help you cache water. I believe he already maintains a cache at the first Bear Box.

On a side note, some of the men I hiked with the first week to Lordsburg, cached water at the other locations between CC and Lordsburg. They came out a day early to do this. If I remember correctly, one of the locations was missing 2 gallons when we arrived.

kay, Keith...just a question,

I'm hiking the Crazy Cook route, so I won't need you to do my wash. My
uestion, since I haven't called BLM yet, is the BLM route marked from Crazy
ook to Lordsburg? I saw some way too large signs when I drove San Gabriel and
nother hiker from ADZ to Crazy Cook. Are those the markers all the way to
berg?
Also does anyone know if the water caches boxes still in place, for the same
oute? Have there been any known problems with the water jugs getting vandalized
r stolen?

Answer:

t is marked VERY well. I hiked the crazy cook route this last September, 2009.
here are reflective signs most of the route. They got a little spread out in a
ew sections. But, I had no problems. Several sections are not even what you
ould call a "trail". You just walk around brush and cactus toward the next
ign.

he Water cache boxes are the same as the bear boxes you see in Yosemite. There
as no evidence of vandalism or of even more than one or two being visited by
ikers.

have some photos and a complete gps route with some notes if you (or any one
lse) would like them.

also came across several water sources (cow troughs and some mud tanks or
onds). I stashed at each cache location two one gallon jugs. I only used one
allon at each. (Your needs may vary) The temperature was on average in the
pper 70's during my hike. I wrote my name and a date for anyone to take the
emainder on the non-used gallon.

he major issue with crazy cook is the road to the border. You need a 4x4 with
ood clearance.....and that is no guarantee.

ood Luck and fill free to contact me off-line if any other questions.

1:24 AM Hi Bob,
Thank you for your interest in Peek Pronto.
We are sorry to hear some of the site links are not working. We will
orward that information on to our Peek Geeks fro review. In the meantime, I
ouble checked the site and this link:
http://www.getpeek.com/learn.htm_ (http://www.getpeek.com/learn.htm)
s working and can be used to view a 360 degree view of the Peek as well
s some videos of and about the Peek for review.
As for hat comes in the box, you get a Peek, battery, AC charger, carrying
ase, and some limited user information. You can set the Peek up with
ifetime service and Lifetime Insurance for a total cost of $299.95 through
eek only, with $249.95 for the Lifetime service and $50 for the Lifetime
nsurance. The Lifetime service is self-explanatory and does typically follow
he device you purchased the plan with. However, if something happens to
our device (breaks, malfunctions, lost/stolen) and you have the Lifetime
nsurance Plan, then the Lifetime Service Plan follows you to the replacement
eek. The Lifetime Insurance Plan is $50 and you can continue to reload the
nsurance plan on to the new Peeks so that you never have to repurchase
he Lifetime Service Plan just the re-loadable insurance. This optional $50
nsurance plan would be the only additional charge you would have from Peek
ith the Lifetime Service Plan in place; there are no hidden fees or taxes
ere at Peek. If you would like to purchase this insurance plan, then
imply give us a call at 877-677-7335 (Peek) once you are active and we would
e
ore than happy to assist you!
If you did request a replacement Peek under insurance, it would take about
-2 weeks to process your request. Unfortunately, there is no way around
his timeframe; this 1-2 weeks is the time it takes to process your request
nd get the new Peek out to via the United States Postal Service.
Extra batteries and other extra accessories are available for purchase
hrough _http://boutique.getpeek.com/_ (http://boutique.getpeek.com/) . The
xtra battery is $9.95 + shipping and handling. To extend the life of the
attery, you can turn off the "searching signal" option by turning on Airplane
ode from the Peek Manager Menu; its a simple click of a button to turn
his on and off.
As for the reviews of Peek on Amazon.com, we constantly strive for the
est customer service and Peek experience we can offer! We support most major
mail providers as well as some exchange, and we do our best to make sure
ll systems are always operational. As with most email providers, we have
ad a few outages over the past 1.5 years we've been opened, so that might
ccount for some of the reviews on email service. We can not do much to
laborate on the reviews as these are customer opinions. As for the device, we
ave come out with many upgrades and improvements to the Peek since its
aunch in Sept. 2008 and we expect that improvements will continue to be made
n 2010.
Lastly, our email support system only shows the email address you sent
his email from, therefore, we can not see the other email addresses that you
C'd this email to. Please forward this information on to the friend and
amily members who are interested in Peek.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

ustomer (Bob Bob) 02/04/2010 08:18 AM This morning, some of your site
inks aren't working, such as FAQ; I'm
aving no problems with any other sites.
1. I find no "what's in the box info", so ... what is? Where are photos of
what's in the box'?
. Do you offer insurance for loss or breakage of the device? Otherwise,
he "lifetime service" offered by Amazon.com only applies to one's first
evice, and is a false claim.
a. What is the cost of a replacement device? Will you ship a
eplacement device immediately, to minimize a customer's inconvenience,
uch as a
ackpacker only in a resupply town for a day - who can't necessarily send
n
bad device while hiking and wait another week or 2 for a replacement in
different town, that changes every week.
. I find no info about availability and cost of extra batteries.
. Can the "seeking a signal" function be turned off to extend battery
ife? easily?
. On amazon.com and costco.com there is a wide swath of negative
eedback, from bad devices to flimsy devices to bad email service to bad
ustomer
ervice. Please comment on those 4 general areas, as to what's been done
o
ddresses these concerns.
6. Please respond to the above 3 "Copy" To addresses also; they represent
few hundred long distance backpackers on 3 long US trails: Appalachian,
acific Crest, and Continental Divide Trails.
Thanks,
