Hi Sage!
I just got a signal and saw your post. I am just a day from Brooks
myself. I sent a box there from Rawlins and a section hiker I passed
today called me by name! He said the folks at Brooks had my package and
thought he was me.
Anyhow he said they were super friendly and even offered to take his
hiker garbage.
I know when I called them from Rawlins the lady was super nice and very
willing to hold our resupply boxes.
Anyhow, Cheers-Iceaxe

Hey Y'all!
So I caved in and bought a 7 oz Can of Bear Pepper Spray. What the heck
am I supposed to do with it when I reach Canada?
I know I can't fly home with it so once my hike is over it becomes
useless to me.
Is there a place to donate this thing at the border.. Perhaps just hand
it off to another hiker or the rangers there?
Just curious if anyone knows, can find out, or had any experience with
this issue.
Thanks in advance for any info.
Cheers-Iceaxe

I got lucky and got a ride from a Forest Service Employee. He gladly
took the spray. I gave it to him when I was outside of Griz Land.

I would imagine that even a "Parks" Employee would take it off your
hands.

It was real strange seeing average park visitors walking around with
their canisters strapped to their hips.

Hello all,

The website for Big Sandy Lodge (at the south end of the Wind River
Range) announces that

they no longer accept "drop-offs" for CDT hikers. Contact them for
clarification.

Odd language. Since the website no longer mentions "mail drops"
perhaps this is what they meant. I wonder if they accept packages for
"guests"? Logistically, I thought it to be a great spot and the
breakfast well worth it.

This is not a complaint. If I were a whiner I would not be out here. I
just want to let my fellow map and compass CDT'er buddies know that the
CDT in the Sheridan Pass area is a piece of work.
As per Jonathan Ley there are CDT markers that are actually marking
snowmobile trails instead of our route.
I know you don't need my help to get through but I just want to give you
notice that it really is true.
Luckily I saved a bit of my sense of humor for this morning!
Hey, it's the CDT!
Embrace the meaningless route markings!
Wait.. I can hear music.. I think it's the theme song to Monty Python
playing in the distance.

Matthew, You go, Man!! I love following your posts. The emphasis on
cancer
reseach is greatly appreciated, too. I am identifying with this hike
more
with every post you make.
Kill cancer- Hike the CDT!! I love it.
