hi aviv
I believe that when you are going north on interstate 25 that you should take the jefferson exit to the frontage road - you will turn left and go over the bridge - don't get back on the interstate - REI has a small sign - I missed it and had to drive over the grass and a curb to get to their parking lot lol - anybody out there from abq? am I right in the jefferson turnoff? aviv is from Israel and might need some help getting around abq
it sounds like you will be leaving early on your hike - be prepared for the snow - tell the people at REI that you are hiking the CDT and they will help you

here is more info for you - if you are taking the greyhound from phoenix to el paso you could drop your gear off here since the bus stops in deming - you could also shop online and have it delivered here

Keith,

Yes, there are two REIs in Phoenix (Tempe right off US 60, and Paradise Valley). That would probably be the best all-around place to go for gear, so long as these folks aren't looking for anything too specialized.

Summit Hut is a local outfitter with two stores in Tucson that might have a greater selection of lightweight or higher-end gear, but unless that was convenient for them, going there is probably not worth there time unless they were looking for something specific.

Otherwise, they could consider ordering things online and having them shipped to the friends in Phoenix or El Paso.
