[Cdt-l] senior moment

my bad - I had a senior moment - snorkel and frogs are about 10 days out - carbo, masa, and Jb got in yesterday and chose to stay in town due to the fact that we smoke - apparently yogi has removed the caveat from her book about the fact of smoking (we do cut our consumption when we have hikers) and our cats - it is fairly important to contact us when you get into town - I have new places for water that have not yet been published - if you take wolf's route you will miss the BBQ place which is acclaimed as the best for hundreds of miles by hikers - just ask hawkeye - kombucha - heaps - DIY and rolling thunder - they finished the trail and went back to it since it was so good - if you take wolf's route south on country club to rock hound rd east you have many miles of road walking with no water sources - if you take ley's route passing our place for water you will still have road walking but at least you walk on the side of the road away from traffic - then on to dry gulch for great BBQ where I have worked out a deal with the owners that hikers get $1 off any sandwich - they are closed on monday
water may not be much of an issue for sobo's since it is so cool out but it's very important for nobo's - there is a new water source before you get to rock hound state park - very friendly and nice people - you can even go into their yard for water if they are not home - robert is talking about running a "hard" line to the street with a faucet for hikers - when you get farther south to the junction of hiway 11 and waterloo rd there is no water at borderline or the "mormon" house - you have to go 1/2 mile east to willie pritchards to get water - this is a new site that I just secured a week ago
a place to stay in deming is the american inn - it has new ownership and they have totally refurbished the rooms - it's priced at $25 a night - of course, you can still stay with us and I will drive back into town for meals (I'm always hungry), the post office and resupply - yogi suggests irma's for mexican food - I suggest el mirador which is right across the street from the american inn - for the best italian food for 200 miles there is palma's on main street - they are closed sunday and monday
so there's some information on deming

snorkel and frogs are supposed to be at our place either today or tomorrow - then 2 1/2 days to the border

I do believe that Snorkel is about to or has just recently completed her triple crown. Of course, I wouldn't reveal a lady's age without asking her first...

Re: Triple Crown

I have been trying to determine this as well and have not had much
luck. The reality is there are very few people in general who have
completed such a challenge, and fewer that are women, even fewer solo
and the fewest young.
Of course it always depends on wether the woman has been recognized
with ALDHA or has stayed annonymous. Greg Hummel with ALDHA West
forwarded me this link which indicates Salamander at 25 completed the
Triple Crown according to the article.

I personally have been trying to determine the number of solo women in
the 20's who have achieved the Triple Crown. I'll be setting foot on
the CDT next year at 28 to complete the third leg as a solo female
hiker and would love more information for my own writings! Any
information helps!
