I used a Columbia Titanium long sleeve shirt for the entire PCT and CDT.
I chose white of course.
The shirt totally protected my arms from the sun as evidenced by the heavy tan line on the backs of my hands.
I am a medium sized guy but i used the large size shirt. I liked the extra room for ventilation.
Also, no mosquito anywhere on either trail was able to bite me through this shirt.
The only failure i had was one button popped off and I res-ewed it with dental floss.
I liked the large chest pockets as I stashed my day's J. Ley maps folded in quarters in my right pocket and carried my Canon 590 camera in my left pocket... they are generously sized pockets! Anyhow the shirt has a nylon mesh liner inside around the shoulder girdle and that greatly aided the sweat drying out of this already quick drying shirt.
Yea, i probably looked like a dork swimming in this huge white Columbia shirt but I'll take function over form anyday on the trail.
I just wish they were American made.
