I use Osprey and ULA. They are both great, but the ULA is definitely the choice to go lighter.

It's gotten down to that time where after all the calculations, valuing the
pros and cons, ounces and options, I think I want to use the CDT by ULA this
year on my NOBO CDT hike. Has anyone else used it on the CDT or PCT? Any
advice?
I think it would be a perfect fit for my needs and no, it's not because it
has the same name of the trail I am about to hike. It seems to have
everything I'd like: large front hip pockets, side water bottle carrying
pockets which I won't need to drop my pack just to pull out, 3610 cu in.
carrying ability, 12lb recommended base, 25 total comfortable carrying load,
pole staps/ice axe loops and the size on hip/ torso which are two separate
sizing options suit my needs as well. It also works well with 3/4 length
sleeping pads
The only thing I am weary on is one female reviewer said the hip belt made
her hips sore..... I think that'll go away, if it happens at all, after a
couple of weeks.
17oz. +1-2 depending on if I carry a couple of extra features. USA made
still. It's one of the cheaper priced bags at $135.
The other packs I looked into were: Granite Gear Vapor Ki, Six Moons
Swift/Starlite, Equinox ARAS, ULA OHM, Gossamer G4... all of these had more
cons that the CDT

Any advice/recommendations about past use, durability, etc is appreciated!
thanks,
mary

FYI, I will be away from home from April 16 to May 2. All orders received
during that time will be mailed on May 3. So, please don't wait until the
last minute to get your Handbook!

Happy hiking everyone.

Hi All,

Due to the overwhelming restrictions of adulthood, I'll only be taking a
little over a month off of work this summer and will be spending that time
on the CDT, starting in Steamboat and heading south starting around August
17. I'd like to hike for 30 days and exit either at Pagosa Springs or
Chama. It doesn't seem that there is bus service out of either town. For
those in the know, am I right in thinking that I'll have to either hitch to
Durango or Santa Fe? Or is there a closer bus connection to an airport? A
train connection would work out also.

On a completely separate topic, here is what happens when hiker trash heads
to the Himalaya

Suge,

>From the Cumbres Pass on Highway 17 where you would hitch into Chama, you
can hitch the other way (east) into Antonito, and then hitch up north on
US-285 to Alamosa (Colorado), where there is a Greyhound stop which will
take you to Albuquerque or Denver. From Pagosa your best bet is probably
hitching to Durango for Greyhound. If you decide to hitch to Santa Fe from
Chama, there's a commuter train (the Rail Runner) that goes to the Airport
in Albuquerque.

I can't attest to the CDT, but can attest to ULA. I've been using a Catalyst
for the past 5 years. It has worn well (as opposed to well worn) and is my
most comfortable pack to date. -Ron
