You sound a bit like the chamber of commerce. Nothing sensible about
walking on roads across posted, private ranches when you could be
hiking a trail on public lands. Your comments about border problems seems
like a stretch. The last big border news was about Columbus being
a haven for smugglers and crooks, not CC. (Mayor, Police Chief, etc.
busted....)

I have to disagree with that statement jack - as border problems tend to get
worse in the bootheel (eg: CC) more and more people will do the sensible
route - there are very few people on the CC route this year too

Likely more and more people will be hiking the Crazy Cook route. I'd expect the
trend of decreasing numbers on the Columbus route to continue.
