I went on medicare last month and used my retirement insurance as my supplemental but then again I retired at 45 - I got about $240 added to my monthly retirement check - a win/win for me

At 18 mos from medicare when you retire, it's likely your best bet is to 
ontinue your employer's group plan under COBRA.  You have to pay the full cost 
ourself, but you'll be in a pool with a lot of younger folks so the rates will 
ikely be lower than on an individual policy.
