we would tell hikers we had a 3 days in a row stay limit - then we would take them to a motel - in the beginning we had 2 hikers stay 7 days to recover with no donations
I liked your quote

here's a suggestion - if you don't like smells of cat piss and ashtrays, sleep outside. Or leave. Trail angels' homes are not hotels.
Trail angel services are helpful options, not requirements or necessities. What is wrong with charging for a shuttle?

Several years ago, a well-respected trail angel on another trail basically kicked me out after I apparently overstayed my welcome as a long section hiker, and I was accused by this angel of being a freeloading fraud (I had donated like everyone else) and not a hiker, despite my UL gear and general "hiker-ness." I chalked it up as one of those unusual but memorable experiences of thru-hiking.

Food for thought, take it literally or figuratively:

Another trail angel, again not on the CDT, said this to me, and I quote directly: "You know, the people who do this sort of thing (thru-hiking) are a little off." And with a devilish wink, he added: "and so are the people who help them."

Cheers, Jim

Well if he wanted to be in a guide book don't attack the author of the guide book on cdt-l.
In fact as Keith steps away from trail angeling. He had to make a parting jab at Yogi.
Well he is still willing to charge for shuttles just not let you stay.
You may be new to the list just check his woe is me Yogi is out to get me posts from the past.

What a shame. Anyone who stayed with Keith and Mary this year knows that they no longer smoke and there are no ashtrays in the house. There are a couple of cats but they don,t go to the room where the hikers stay. The hiker room was totally set up right with whatever a hiker needed.

I stayed the house at the start of my nobo chunk this year. It was awesome. I stepped off the greyhound bus all alone. I didn't know anyone. Keith was right there just like he said he was going to be. It was an immediate friendship. I truly felt that he helped me to start out my first 3 days on the right foot and that meeting him was a big part of my successful hike.

He should have been in the guild book and that's it!

Where to start. I think most of the word of mouth from NOBO's is what kept the SOBO's away. Cat piss and ashtray smell is not what hikers come to the CDT to experience. Sorry.
Or maybe trail angel is a misnomer. Closer to a man in it for the wrong reasons (money) is more apt. Trail angeling is a labor of love.
Maybe it was not your ommission from the Yogi guides, but your online attacks of her and your snarky comments about her. Yogi didn't put you in her guide. That doesn't excuse you from dragging her through the mud. If you have nothing nice to say...
Maybe all or maybe none of the above are reasons for the avoidance of your "hospitality".

as our final season as trail angels draws to a close I wanted to say that some of it has been fun - especially meeting some of the youth of the world - on the down side learning that hikers were complaining to yogi about me was pretty much the last straw - everyone that signed our register with such flowing words of appreciation and then apparently contacted yogi with complaints was it
basically I will continue with my same services as before it's just that our house will not be open to hikers - I will continue to pick up hikers at the bus station and take them to a hiker motel - will tell them where the water sources are and will contact willie for them and we will cache water for the nobo's - our place will still be a water source - oh yeah, I will tell them about the best mexican food places in town that are not in yogi's book
