[Cdt-l] Trail Angels

I think this is perhaps one of the worst postings on the CDT-L ever made.

This is so far off topic from hiking the CDT.

It is time to not just give this topic a rest, but to stop it altogether.

Please.

Everyone who has stayed with Keith answer me this.

Is he emotionally removed?

Have an exaggerated startle response?

A bit off?

Those are examples of a true PTSD ( the most faked va benefit fraud claim)
sufferer.

Is he too disabled to work?

If he is truly a severe PTSD sufferer why get in a car with him?

Because Keith receives a tax free disabilty check. He seems to be able to
drive, keep timely appointments, and tell people where to eat. So, why not
work? He seems able to drive a shuttle, do data entry, and tour guide. So
there are jobs for him, but the gov't cheese is too tasty I guess.

Does he even continue therapy and counseling? Or does the monthly check
keep the demons away?

He runs an unlicensed improperly insured unpermitted illegal business that
caters to hikers. Yet you call him a trail angel. I call a spade a spade
sorry. If he is such and angel he needs to consider the Scout and Frodo
school of angeling.

Your taxes pay for his car, fuel, oil changes, tires, and home already. Now
he double dips and asks you for more money! He should be kissing your ass
for allowing him to sit around all life.

Let me paint you a picture.

Someone gets drafted into service. Serves 2 yrs; 1 in a combat zone, 1 in
stateside training. They got drafted at say 18 potentially paying taxes 1-4
yrs prior to the draft. Then go to war maybe not even seeing direct combat.
The reality of Vietnam is 1 out of 8 people received direct fire.

They return stateside and realize how easy the government gives out the PTSD
money. They make a claim and receive benefits until death. What could
someone possibly do or experience that would net them tax free income for
3/4's of a century? Maybe
loading corpses onto the back of a truck with a pitchfork 24/7/365.

I'm curious what branch, unit, and what years he served. Then we might
better understand the action he saw or didn't see.

To refer any activities of trail angels as "business" seems to have
no connection with reality.

Mr "Andrew long trail" obviously has no direct knowledge of the
services provided by Keith and Mary in Deming.
He seems to misunderstand that they are offering assistance to CDT
hikers out of the goodness of their hearts.
This is an act of love for the trail and its hikers and could no way
be anything else.

When I stayed with Keith he had a donation jar and it was up to the
hiker to decide whether to donate or how much to donate.
I noted it was quite full of money at the time!

You speak out of ignorance and as some sort of a cheer leader for
Yogi. I cant understand this.

I met Yogi this year on the trail and she appeared to be a nice
person and no one can doubt her dedication to the PCT and CDT.
It is her call what she puts in her books and the quality of the
advice she provides about angels is up to her.
Some people (like me) have disagreed with her omission of Keith, but
it's her book and she can print what she likes.

As a hiking community we all rely on the goodwill of trail angels.
Your actions (and other listers) denigrate their efforts and who
could blame them for giving up some of their angeling activities in
the face of such ignorant remarks?

Why don't you stay out of an issue that you know nothing about.

best regards
Aussie Dave
