Rule #1 when stashing a vehicle: Always try to hike towards your vehicle not away from it....which I've done @ Twins Rivers campground in Chama, Ghost Ranch, Silver City, Grants and other places. Mini Mart

Subject: [Cdt-l] Big Breath- Trail Plans for 2013
New thread, new day. This is a place we discuss hiking the CDT and share info on trail conditions, support, points of interests, .....
I am 63 and planning to hike the CDT in NM this April/May. I will be 64 this December. Not too old. Yet.
I have no set time schedule. I can start earlier or later. I don't care when I end.
I have no daily mileage expectations. I plan to take what the trail gives.
I have been dreaming and hoping for the opportunity to do the CDT. In some ways I have come to think of the NM section as one of the more challenging sections because of water issues.
And though NM isn't the entire CDT, it is a nice section and the opportunity is now before me. And all of a sudden I am wondering what I am getting myself into? Well, sort of wondering. I've backpacked before. I have about 700 miles of the CDT done.
I am thinking seriously about the CDTS route. I haven't ruled out the CC as a starting point.
I have no chance to keep up with 20+ miles per day hikers.
I certainly would like to park a car in Chama, NM and get a ride from there back to where I will be starting from.
Now, let the fun begin.
