The more effective kinds tend to be made of large corrugated metal sheeting at ground level with a slight slope and a gutter at the downslope end which drains into a sunken trough for collection. The kind shown in BC's photo is typically a jury-rigged standard metal tank that otherwise lacks an inlet source.
