I'm glad someone clarified that the Wilderness Lodge hasn't had a falling out with CDT'ers, but has simply changed their business model in a changing environment. The economy, and now the fires these last two seasons, have had an effect on everyone in the surrounding communities in one way or another it seems.

In addition to the Wilderness Lodge and Gila Hot Springs Ranch accommodations, there's also the RV park affiliated with Doc Campell's (it's right across the street), with tent sites available (fee). Farther out are the River Campground (fee) and forest service campgrounds (fee). For a comparable walk, one could also head north, back up the highway, to the crossing of Little Creek, where a dirt road offers access to some quiet stealth camping opportunities on public land.

Doc Campbell's store has both showers and laundry, so it's mostly a matter of whether or not you're interested in sleeping indoors for a change.
