The difference in those routes is pretty much south of the Gila 
Wilderness. There are a variety of options, but essentially, the 
Columbus route will get you "into the Gila" a little bit east of the 
cRaZy CoOk route...  Just north of Silver City, the two essentially 
connect. Then, you have a choice in the Gila as well... the river, or 
the mountains... but, that's another story.
