a SPOT saved goat man's life and I have heard of one other hikers life being saved by one

Just curious about the SPOT malfunction, I carried one on the Colorado Trail. My family loved knowing that I was OK and where I was. As an unexpected bonus, my daughter was waiting for me at the Creede trailhead in Colorado when I came off the trail as she knew about when I would be there by my SPOT updates. Never had any issues.

might be easier to have a stock animal to carry your water, then at least when you get tired you can ride it.
