Not a significant concern for hikers at this point. You'll know when it eventually crosses that threshold, as that's when the cottage gear manufacturers will start selling ultralight beekeeper suits made from cuben fiber and nanoseeum.

A Tucson hiker was found dead- killed by African bees.

In AZ this now  a new story.  a couple of hikers in Phoenix were nearly
killed with over 200 bee stings this spring.

 

I am wondering, to fight off attacking bees, would if be wise to pack a can
of Raid flying insect spray?
