[Cdt-l] Sun Umbrella

I used a Chrome Dome on the PCT and CDT in the desert sections and
frequently for rain. The sun in NM was not as bad as on the PCT, so I
didn't use it as frequently but I did use it. It can drop the apparent
temp. by what seems 10 or 20 degrees on really hot days. I have no
problem simply putting the shaft under my chest strap and synching it down
tightly over it. I then pull it down over my pack and head and it kind of
hooks itself there stays put pretty well. If there's a wind I use a small
carabiner and the bit of cord loop on the end of the shaft, to hook it down
to my belt or another spot. Both of these options leave my hands free for
my poles. In really heavy winds and driving rain several times on the CDT
I had to hold it with one hand and just use one pole.
