[Cdt-l] etrax 30 Question

I have been able to load routes into my Etrex 30.  I have not yet loaded in
any topo maps.

 

One thing I cannot figure out. With my old etrex-  the first model, it was
very easy to set a "Start" location and then wander around and keep track on
my route, mileage, etc.  I cannot figure out how its done on the Etrex 30.  

 

If I want to go for a bike ride, how do I get my route to be entered into
the GPS so I can see what my overall mileage for the trip is?
