This may sound like a dumb question, but I just don't understand a lot of tech stuff. If I clear the current track, it doens't affact the stored routes in memory, correct?

You have to clear any existing tracks. I learned this via trial and error.

I go to Track Manager. Open it via clicking the toggle button. Then it shows you tracks you have accumulated. Current track is on top. Click down the toggle switch and options are listed. Move the toggle stick downward to see "Clear Current Track". Click the toggle switch again, then answer "yes".

This procedure should be done just before your ride. I also usually go to the Trip Computer window and clear that each time I am ready to ride. That takes place by accessing the Menu button on the left side of the unit.

It's frustrating to learn this stuff because the documentation is poor.

I have been able to load routes into my Etrex 30. I have not yet loaded in any topo maps.

One thing I cannot figure out. With my old etrex- the first model, it was very easy to set a "Start" location and then wander around and keep track on my route, mileage, etc. I cannot figure out how its done on the Etrex 30.

If I want to go for a bike ride, how do I get my route to be entered into the GPS so I can see what my overall mileage for the trip is?
