Hi everyone--ALDHA-West (American Long Distance Hikers Association-West) is hosting a Ruck on the Oregon/Washington border on Feb.22-- If you’re in the area, a great place to see hiker friends and meet new ones!

Cascade Winter Ruck

Where: Cascade Locks, Oregon
Cascade Locks Marine Park Community Center
355 WaNaPa St, Cascade locks, OR 97014
When: February 22, 2014
Time: 9am-4pm
Cost per person: $15 for Members, $25 for non-Members

Are you planning to hit one of the long-distance trails in 2014 or know someone who is?
Are you new or getting reacquainted with backpacking and need some advice?
Is your pack too dang heavy and you need someone to help you cut the weight?
Have questions about how to cook on trail, or where you need to send a mail-drop while out there?
Are you PCT, CDT or AT curious?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions then the Cascade Winter Ruck is the place for you to be!

The board of ALDHA-West has put together a great day event that will be held out in Cascade Locks, OR on Saturday February 22, 2014 from 9am-4pm. Current ALDHA-West Members are just $15, and non-members are $25 and include a Homemade Lunch (with a Vegan Option)

The day will involve the following informative sessions:
Pack explosion and pack shakedowns for the brave souls who dare have us help you lighten your load
Resources for the Trail Data & Navigation
Food & Mail Drop Planning
The CDT and what you need to know
Time Frames for completing your hike
Physical and mental conditioning, before you go on your hike
Trail and town etiquette
One on One & Group Q&A with various "Triple Crown" Members of ALDHA-West who will be on site to help

We hope to see you there, please also spread the word through any of your; blogs, hiking communities, trail buddies, hiker trash gatherings, social media, meet-up groups....well you get the idea.
