SOBO hikers should bear right at Harris Bear Camp. (approximately 28_14.5 - Guthook 713.7) and continue on the official route to miss the Ghost Ranch washout. You will cross highway 84 at 27_144AP and that is probably the easiest place to hitch to GR. You will not be disappointed by the official route which passes across some beautiful rock mesa country en route to the Chama River Canyon - Skull Bridge (26_14.3, Guthook 685.0, ) on recently constructed trail. That is where the alternate and official routes come together again.

best wishes,
