hi,  thanks for the advice on polycyro.,  its in the mail.  next, even
though we have plenty of snow in central maine, ice axes haven't ever been
used.  trying to get a majority opinion about the need for an ice axe in
the san juans. if so how do you size them.  i see 60 and 65 cm(and larger).
 i measure 23 inches from the floor to my finger tip.  been told a little
longer is better for hiking as opposed to climbing.  comments please. thanks
