<P>There's the Great Divide Trail, which is an extension of the CDT 900 miles into Canada. I think it's more of a concept than an actual trail, but there is a guidebook published and an online forum put up by the publisher. I think it comes up pretty easy on Google. </P>
<P>I just came through the South San Juans, and the trail was never difficult to find as long as I stuck with the Wolf Guidebook. The only confusing thing was a large number of trails at the high elevation spots, alternate ways around snowbanks I assume. The only snow that should be troublesome to you relatively bigfooted, lightweight hikers :) is mentioned in the Wolf Guidebook in between Summit Peak and Montezuma Peak. Everything else has melted out enough to not be a problem. The only other real rough spot in that section is just a little North of Cumbres Pass next to the Tierra Amarilla Grant. A good chunk of the trail is through horizontal forest. The trees were all diseased, and the owner on the Grant side did a clear cut, so absolutely everythings down. I recommend around the East side of the deadfall rather than through.</P>
<P>As for a horse trip, check out the Colorado Outfitters Association. Their website is <A href="http://www.coloradooutfitters.org">www.coloradooutfitters.org</A>. They should be able to help y'all find exactly what you're looking for.</P>
<P>Ginny, I've read more on James Peak. I think you're entirely right that I won't be able to get through it. Anyone have alternate route suggestions? I'd sure appreciate them.</P>
