It was a very heavy snow year and I should have carried it all the way to South Lake Tahoe. I'm trying to avoid the same situation on my southbound CDT hike. Assuming that I actually need/use the ice axe in GNP, is it likely that I'll need it between East Glacier and Lincoln?
