Highly recommend the black range the later in the fall it is depending on snow conditions if any. Four of us just took the river route from snow lake and the canyon was bordering on too cold. Ice along river and shaded areas that never defrost. Sunlight in upper canyon limited. Water temp 32. Air temps in morning below freezing. If taking river must have some way to defense cold by neoprene socks.or something else.
