<DIV>Oh well, I just got the BLM maps so I could see a lot of territory on

<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I find 7 1/2 minutes absolutely great if I really want to explore a small
area thoroughly. The ink doesn't run, and the extra features already mentioned
are very helpful. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>However, with respect to long distance hiking, I think they have more
detail than is required, and weigh too much. For most side trips, I would prefer
a commercially produced larger scale map. They are tough and waterproof, and
have all sorts of up to date information included. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>In short, for a dayhike, I love my 7 1/2 minute maps, but I've never
carried one on a long distance hike. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I look forward to checking out the link someone gave for free printable
topo maps. </DIV>
