Thanks all for your replies. Looking at my options I will choose the
Mode-S trailhead as starting point. I still had the trail via Delmoe
Lake as the CDT. The trail now being near Butte will make things
much easier. <br>

<div>The Mode-S trailhead is on the east side of butte. There is
trailhead parking area on the east side of I-15. This is a 3.8
mile connector that hits the CDT at mile 9.7 of segment 18. It
is 9.7 miles to Homestake from there via recently developed new
trail. It is all shown on BC Montana map 63. <br>
