Frank, Everyone else,<br>

Are the water caches shown on the BLM like Frank gave below the same caches<br>
as those used by Sam Hughes?<br>
<br>
If so, I am not able to connect the waypoints for the caches in the<br>
bearcreek waypoints and those given the link below- or am I just reading the<br>
info incorrectly?<br>
<br>
I hope I don't weary all you CDT veterans with all these questions.<br>
<br>
It has been over 10 years now since i last used long/lat in a much simplier<br>
GPS then the Etrex30 I am now playing with.<br>

This is getting more interesting all the time.<br>

So is the new trail between Omega and Pie Town now in place?<br>

I would love to hike it.<br>

following US-60 into AZ it drops south before making its way into Phoenix<br>
and passes through my area about 19 miles north of where I live in Florence.<br>
US-60 is a very scenic route but I am not really interested in walking any<br>
more of it than necessary.<br>

One of the big goals of the CDT is to be non-motorized. That is why the new<br>
route was developed ? to put hikers on trail instead of road. Good news is<br>
that the route will eventually include new trail from near Omega connecting<br>
to Pietown, so that town will always be part of the trail. I have done both<br>
the new trail and the road walk and the new trail is definitely nicer. If I<br>
were doing the trail for the first time I think I would hike to Omega then<br>
follow the highway to Pietown. There is new trail planned from Pietown to<br>
the Malpais that will be spectacular.<br>

Those waypoints should get me to Silver City with no problem.<br>

and are quite accurate. There are 6972 waypoints in all for the entire trail<br>

official USFS/BLM route for the CDNST so for the many possible alternate<br>
hikes such as the Gila River, Winds, or Anaconda cutoff they won?t help, but<br>
most of the time you will likely be on the official route. I think Frank?s<br>

for 20 miles between water sources you could do the entire thing just using<br>
