Great advice so far from all. I'm getting ready to hike the 1st leg
south to north in October. Is anyone out there doing it then? It's my
1st solo hike and it would be good to know if anybody will be out there
too. Also has anyone had any problem with illegal aliens on this
stretch? The Duck

Subject: [pct-l] cracked feet

I wore sandals for over 1000 miles hiking on the PCT last year. The
only way that I was able to avoid cracked heels was to use vaseline on
my feet in the morning and in the evening. I would probably not smooth
down my callouses while on the trail.... they are my foot armor!

Although, being cocky about hiking over 1000 miles in sandals is not
necessarily a good thing; I snagged and broke my baby toe a few weeks
back... D'oh!
