Lindy,

For me it was all about support and adjustments.  Tevas literally rubbed me the wrong way.  I found that Chacos (sorry, can't remember the model) provided the ability to loosen or tighten the straps, which helped as I changed from thin-to-thick-to-no socks.  I love 'em, and hiked most of 312 miles through the Sierras in them and only switched to boots in the high snowy passes.
