My inexpensive Timex Helix
altimeter/barometer/temperature watch has worked
well for me -- the altimeter function has been
accurate but the temp measurement are affected by
your wrist skin temps while wearing the watch
(leave your watch off for about 15 minutes to get
an accurate reading). Others before me have used
this watch on a PCT thru-hike -- that's how I
found it -- search the PCT archives when they
become available.

Note that as the watch directions say, you have
to be outside continuously for at least 15-30
minutes to get an accurate barometer/altimeter
reading (you won't get an accurate altimeter
reading from inside a car or inside a house).

I paid $54 delivered from Campmor but since this
is a model that's a couple of years old or more,
Campmor only sells the newer Timex model.

Battery lasts about 1 year with active use. Make
sure to use the convenient button lock on the
face of the watch so you don't inadvertently bump
any the watch buttons while hiking/sleeping.

Here's a Buy It Now price for a new one on eBay
