I have been following the progress of these fires and the PCT is under seige from 2 sides in the white water river drainage.

If the Millard and Sawtooth Complex fires merge, very bad for the PCT to Onyx Summit. Having hiked the area several times in the last few years, I noted a large number of dead trees and swaths of dead brush, I don't see fire fighters risking their lives to make a stand here. It would be unstoppable, this was my tought then and I fear it is now coming to pass.

Some where South of highway 138 and Onxy Summit would be my guess where they would make a stand to stop the fire from entering Big Bear.

They have drawn a line where the fire was earlier in the year east of 2N02 but how that line extends I don't know.

My guess for the Coon creek to Onyx Summit they may try to hold the line @ coon creek clearing fire breaks to the ridge and setting backfires to starve the fire of fuel, as the fire advances bomb it from the air and control any spot fires. They may also do something with large stands of dead trees to Onyx Summit if time and resources permit.

There is lots of fuel here as no fire have been recorded here since records stared being kept starting in the 1860's

I just want to cry
