Irony, coincidence I think not, syncronisty I think so! I just emailed Henry at tarptent asking some of these same questions for his advice on condesation, durability, and ground cloth. I have the squall 2. I've only used it 2 times, so it poses some uncertainty.Condesation galore on a frosted october night in northwest new mexico. No winds at all, so I don't even know what to expect out of foul weather, wind rain snow. Will it stand the trials of the trail? It sounds like many have used it for thru hiking and have had success. That was part of my draw to it. Message 7 really seems to have had experience in the tarptents. Basically can I trust this thing? I just need to get out more in it for hands results, just like all gear. GOOD LUCK IN COW TOWN OHIO,back yard will have to do. Ground cloth, I really didn't think I would use one, I do have the sewn in floor, however I started thinking about all that granite I experinced on the JMT and thought it would shred into the
floor. That was with ablue tarp. Maybe thats not the case from the sounds of it. No body seems to carry one. What about added warmth on top of snow or is that insignificant? How well does the tarptent stand on snow? I know henry noted concern for staking in snow, probably with any tent.
