The blueberry-versus-huckleberry issue was a hot topic among hikers when I walked from Manning to Stehekin in August. Use the wrong berry name, and tempers can flare! Thanks for clarifying. -Sarah

Good morning, Terri,

Supposedly, the number of seeds is the difference between a huckleberry,
with10 seeds, and a blueberry which has many, many more. I've eaten
countless of what we in the Northwest call huckleberries but I've never
counted the seeds. I'm too busy poking them in my face.

And finally, what's the difference between blueberries and
huckleberries? I've never seen a huckleberry up close, nor a
blueberry on the plant. Blackberries though, mmmm mmmmm
