[pct-l] SOBO 2007

Don't rule out a NOBO starting on June 1. I met a fellow in 1994 at
Dorothy Lake, or in Grace Meadow, who was about to catch up to the herd
who left Campo on June1 or thereabouts. He had read Ray Jardine's first
book on hiking and got bit. He put together his trip in a matter of
weeks. I remember his comment on his normal high mileage days. "I
don't walk any faster than anyone else. I just walk more hours." He
was averaging 30 mpd or thereabouts.

If you start in good shape and have the will, there is a way. Also, you
will miss "ALL" the snow. Or start June 1 at Kennedy Meadows and flip
back in early October to head south to Campo.

Starting in Washington will be a slog for 400 miles and a month. I
suppose it's doable, but I wouldn't want to walk through all that snow
without a trail to follow or footsteps to trust.
