Hmm, does my recollection match yours:
"Mean" = an average, add 'em up, divide by the number of datapoints.
"Median" = a mid-point in the data, an equal number of points above and  
below.  Not necessarily a mean.
"Mode" = the most frequent, perhaps the most typical, response.

Then there are the fancy analyses, like "standard deviation" and "bell  
curve."  Does make one wonder what a "standard deviant" is, no?
