Can someone tell me approximately how many people attend ADZPCTKO?

Someone suggested attending ADZPCTKO the year before you plan to hike, to help you in your planning. It's a little too late for that since I'm planning to thru-hike in 08!
   
  I've really enjoyed reading some of the journals and hearing about water, etc. Who buys all that water and how do they get it to the caches? Are these located near roads, or does someone carry it all the way in? Wow! What a great thing to do! Is there a way to help pay for this, like buying a book or paying a membership fee to some organization? Are there donation cans at the water caches?
