Greetings:

Free country. If you want your dollars to do more than
get a book delivered to you, buy from the PCTA. Costs
more. Does more. The Pacific Crest Trail is the only
one of the three longest national scenic trails with
one civic organization which "preserves, protects and
defends" the trail. With a miniscule staff, the
Pacific Crest Trail Association raises money,
coordinates trail maintenance, provides a
clearinghouse for trail information and, in
cooperation with other agencies, purchases trail and
right-of-way lands to develop and perpetuate the
trail.

For many of us hikers, money is a constraint, and we
might want to get the cheapest books possible. But if
we can spare the extra bit, buying books and other
items from the PCTA helps a worthy organization.

Best,
J J
