Possibly Hospitality Suites.....a place to go and take a few moments or as long as you need, to get off your feet w/o having to sit in the lobby or the bar...or go back to your own room, wherever it may be.  Sometimes you can leave a tote bag with extra shoes, etc. or something in the second room, usually the bedroom.  There's always someone there (from the PCTA in this case) or the rooms will be locked.They're great for folks staying somewhere other than the host hotel, especially.  
Oh, at the conventions I've been to, there's always been an open bar.  With a NFP organization, not sure of the policy, but you might be able to bring the makin's and the hotel furnishes the glasses and ice, the NFP, the munchies, if any  And there usually are, to keep people walking straight and to impress, at least a little, those folks with money to share.
