Monty,
     I would bet that you are already familiar with all of the lightest
headlamps out there but these are the lightest i know of:
Princeton Tec Pilot: 0.3 oz (9 g) (not really a headlamp, but what the
heck))
BD Ion: 0.9 oz (25 g)
Petzl E-Lite: 0.9 oz (27 g)
BD Gizmo: 1.6 oz (44 g)
 The rest of the pack is over 2 oz.  Of these I would guess that E-Lite is
the brightest.  If you want to go a little heavier the zipka and zipka plus
are also good bright options at 64 and 65 grams, respectively.
