Hey Cris, I see you did a lot in the San Jacinto wilderness; I'm in
Temecula. Need a hiking partner some time?
Thanks,
Jim

Hey Jim
I hear you! I got back into backpacking in my 40's by going alone to the
San Jacinto wilderness. It's small, buy even though you are isolated from
other camps, you are never "alone" and that gave me confidence over the
"what-if-I'm-confronted-by-a-lion, or tiger, or bear!" After so many
nights, the wonders of the galaxy out played the "things that go bump in the
night"; I was so glad I did it! Learn all you can; be prepared -not foolish
;-), -all part of building confidence- and then "just do it"!

A good point brought up by others here, "so many hikers, so many lions and
so FEW, highly publicized events!"

"Walgreen" Cris

mountains don't tolerate fools....
