What experiences have hikers had in hitching from the
White River
Trailhead on White River Road to the Lake Wenatchee
area?
Same question re hitching from the Buck Creek Pass
Trailhead on Chiwawa
River Road to Lake Wenatchee area?

Terry,

I've hitched several times on Chiwawa River Road, from
the end of it to closer to the highway -- going in or
out of the area depends a bit on time of day and week.
On a weekend mid-day, you shouldn't have to wait more
than a half-hour to one hour. Early morn or late
evening, and of course, on weekdays, you can expect
only occasional traffic and should be prepared to wait
several hours or more. It's a dead-end road, but
there are a lot of vacation homes and campgrounds
along it and a trailhead at the end. Most of the
folks around there know that there are hikers in the
area and don't seem to mind stopping. I can't speak
specicially to White River Rd. But, in summary,
hitching in the area requires patience and time, but
it is certainly not impossible. You will eventually
get a ride.
